The first EU thematic workshop of LIFE-IP CEI-Greece entitled “Zero Waste Islands: Transforming island communities, going zero waste – growing sustainably” was succesfully completed, on April 4, 2023 organized by DAFNI Network in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment & Energy. The workshop took place on-line in the English language with parallel translation in Greek, and was attended by approximately 200 people.

During this workshop, the potential of islands to become areas for the implementation of zero waste strategies was explored, taking into account their particular geographical, economic and social challenges and capacities.

The aim of this workshop was both to inspire island municipalities to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of waste management services, enabling their gradual transition to sustainable and circular communities, and to exchange good practices at European level.
