A Bilateral Agreement was signed between the LIFE IP CEI-Greece project – “Implementation of the Circular Economy in Greece”, coordinated by the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MEEN), and the Social Cooperative Enterprise “Psifiako Alma”, based in the Regional Unit of Ilia.
The Bilateral Agreement forms part of the implementation framework of LIFE IP CEI-Greece and aims to promote the valorization of agri-food waste in accordance with the principles of the Circular Economy. It contributes to the application of the waste management hierarchy and supports the transition from a linear to a circular model of production and consumption.
Particular emphasis within the Agreement is placed on strengthening the proper and sustainable management of agri-food waste in the Regional Unit of Ilia, an area with strong agricultural activity. Ilia is among the country’s most important productive regions, with extensive primary production. In this context, the effective utilization of generated agricultural waste constitutes a critical factor for environmental protection, the reduction of pressure on natural resources, and the support of the local economy.
The Voluntary Cooperation Agreement between LIFE IP CEI-Greece and the Social Cooperative Enterprise “Psifiako Alma” highlights the importance of synergies between institutional and local stakeholders for the implementation of the Circular Economy under real-world conditions.
Through this collaboration, the development of targeted actions is envisaged, focusing on awareness-raising and mobilization of relevant stakeholders, the exchange of know-how and data, as well as the exploration of applicable solutions for the management and valorization of agri-food waste.
The initiative falls under Action C.5 of the LIFE IP CEI-Greece project (development of local/regional alliances for the management of agri-food waste), which promotes the implementation of the Circular Economy in Greece through voluntary agreements with productive and research stakeholders.
