The Information Conference and the Regional Circular Economy Workshop in Crete, co-organized by the Green Fund, the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MEEN), the Region of Crete, and the Cretan Waste Management Association (ESDAK), were successfully completed. The events took place from April 20 to 22, 2026, in Heraklion, Crete, at the Hellenic Mediterranean University (ELMEPA), within the framework of the LIFE-IP CEI-Greece Project – LIFE18 IPE/GR/000013 “Implementation of the Circular Economy in Greece”.
More specifically, the Information Conference was held on April 20, 2026, with 104 participants and aimed to present the LIFE-IP CEI-Greece project, highlight successful circular economy practices that can be implemented in Crete, and promote a broader understanding of issues related to circular economy.
In addition, from April 20 to 22, 2026, the Regional Capacity Building Workshop took place with a total of 158 participants, aiming to train stakeholders involved in the design and implementation of waste management solutions. The workshop focused on the thematic areas “Local Authorities & Circular Economy”, “Circular Economy in the Agri-food Sector in Crete”, and “Circular Economy & Tourism”.
