Municipality of Athens: International Zero Waste Day with 170 Primary School Students

Students from primary schools in Athens took part in the creation of an experiential model community at Agios Thomas Square in Goudi. On the occasion of the International Day of Zero Waste, on March 30, they were informed by the Directorate of Cleaning and Recycling of the Municipality of Athens—participating in the LIFE-IP CEI Greece programme—and by Appliances Recycling S.A., about the proper management of hazardous household waste, with a particular focus on electrical and electronic equipment.

New bilateral agreement of the LIFE IP CEI Greece project with the Egnatia Epirus Foundation for the circular economy A new bilateral agreement has been signed between the LIFE-IP CEI Greece project, coordinated by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, and the Egnatia Epirus Foundation, aiming to promote the valorization of agri-food waste — with a focus on sheep wool — in line with the principles of the circular economy.

Completion of the E-learning Programme “Circular Economy in Local Authorities”

The E-learning programme “Circular Economy in Local Authorities” was successfully completed on Friday, 19 December. The programme was implemented within the framework of the integrated project LIFE-IP CEI-Greece “Implementation of Circular Economy in Greece” (LIFE18 IPE/GR/000013) by the Network of Sustainable Greek Islands (DAFNI), the Green Fund, Harokopio University, the Ecological Recycling Society, Terra Nova, the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MoEE) and the Hellenic Recycling Organization (HRA), with co-funding from the EU LIFE Programme and the Green Fund.

Waste Gains Value: The Ministry of Environment & Energy and the Fish Farmers of Thesprotia Lead the Way in Circular Economy

The Ministry of Environment and Energy (MEEN), within the framework of the European project LIFE-IP CEI-Greece – LIFE18 IPE/GR/000013 “Circular Economy Implementation in Greece”, has entered into a Bilateral Agreement with the Association of Fish Farmers of Thesprotia Prefecture to promote the valorization of agri-food waste.
