An Information Day and a Regional Circular Economy Workshop in Crete are co-organized by the Green Fund, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Region of Crete, and the Unified Waste Management Association of Crete (ESDAK), from April 20 to April 22, 2026, in Heraklion, specifically at the Hellenic Mediterranean University – HMU (Estavromenos area), within the framework of the LIFE-IP CEI-GREECE Project – LIFE18 IPE/GR/000013 “Implementation of the Circular Economy in Greece”.
More specifically, on April 20, from 10:30 to 14:45, the Information Day will take place at the Central Auditorium of the School of Health Sciences. It is addressed to the general public and aims to present the LIFE-IP CEI-Greece Project, highlight successful circular economy practices that can be applied in Crete, and foster a better overall understanding of related topics.
The information day event will be followed by a three-day Regional Capacity-Building Workshop, which will be held on April 20 (14:45–18:45) and on April 21 and 22 (09:30–14:30). The workshop will cover the following thematic areas:
Day 1: “Local Authorities & Circular Economy”, Central Auditorium, School of Health Sciences
Day 2: “Circular Economy in the Agri-food Sector in Crete”, Central Auditorium, School of Health Sciences
Day 3: “Circular Economy & Tourism”, Library Reading Room, HMU
As part of the workshop, discussions will be held with invited speakers representing various organizations, topics related to the circular economy will be presented, experiential activities will be conducted, and examples from the Project partners will be showcased. The workshops aim to train all relevant stakeholders involved in designing and implementing circular waste management solutions, such as municipalities, industries, SMEs, farmers’ associations, professional and industrial chambers, local tourism associations, NGOs, etc.
