The european project LIFE-IP CEI-Greece organized with great success its’ 2nd Conference in the city of Thessaloniki (Conference Programme), regarding CE implementation in Greece, offering the opportunity to all stakeholders who are involved with the transition of our country to Circular Economy to get informed about the progress of the project actions as well as a number of useful methodologies that have been elaborated in the context of the LIFE-IP CEI-Greece pilot actions, that are closely linked with the new legal framework requirements for integrated waste management.
Representatives from the political sphere as well as from institutional bodies such as regional and municipal authorities, waste management units, commercial chambers, local businesses, startups, academic and research centres participated in the 2nd Conference of LIFE-IP CEI-Greece.
Greeting speeches were addressed by Mr. Kostas Iakovou (Deputy Mayor for Cleaning and Recycling, Municipality of Thessaloniki), Manolis Grafakos (General Secretary for Waste Management Coordination, Ministry for Environment & Energy), Yannis Androulakis (President BoD, Green Fund), Alexandra Sofia Togia (CEO, Hellenic Recycling Agency), Michalis Geranis (President, FoSDA Central Macedonia), Georgios Tsakoumis, (President, Technical Chamber of Greece/Dpt. of Central Macedonia), Yannis Dardamanelis (Mayor, Municipality of Kalamaria) and Lazaros Kyrizoglou (President, Central Association of Municipalities of Greece).
In addition to the presentations of LIFE-IP CEI-Greece actions from the project beneficiaries, the conference hosted a number of interesting examples and best practices related to CE implementation, such as the LIFE IP of Cyprus for zero waste (LIFE-IP CYzero Waste, https://www.cyzerowaste.com/), the activities of the NGO BOROUME for food waste reduction, the zero waste example of Tilos island etc.
