The Municipality of Vari–Voula–Vouliagmeni, a partner in the LIFE IP CEI GREECE project on circular economy, is organizing the 4th Meeting of the “Municipal Forum on the Implementation of Circular Economy Principles and Best Practices in Waste Management,” on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at the Municipal Council Hall (18 K. Karamanli, Voula).
The meeting is part of an ongoing effort to promote the exchange of know-how and experience among municipalities and stakeholders advancing the circular economy at the local level, aiming to strengthen sustainable waste management models in Greece.
The event program includes two main thematic sessions. The first session focuses on practical applications of the “Pay-As-You-Throw” system, showcasing examples from the Municipality of Vari–Voula–Vouliagmeni, as well as innovative initiatives such as the Furniture Restoration and Creative Reuse Center and the Integrated Green Point. Best practices from other municipalities and initiatives such as ReHORECA will also be presented.
The second session centers on Integrated Separate Collection Plans (ISCPs), featuring a presentation by the Solid Waste Management Body (FODSA) of Central Greece and a discussion on their implementation at the regional level.
The event will open with a welcome address by the Mayor of Vari–Voula–Vouliagmeni, Mr. Grigoris Konstantellos, followed by interventions from invited mayors, representatives of the State, and business representatives (ReHORECA).
The meeting is addressed to representatives of local government, public sector officials, waste management professionals, and anyone interested in the practical implementation of the circular economy.
