Workshop: “Innovative Waste Collection Systems” – Kozani, 5 February 2026

Target audience

Public bodies and professionals actively involved in waste management and circular economy policies and operations.

Topics to be discussed

✅ Session 1:
Presentations on the new era of waste management, key challenges and priorities for Municipalities and Regional Waste Management Authorities (FODSA), as well as the design and operation of Integrated Source Separation Systems. Contributions will be delivered by representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MoEE) and FODSA.

✅ Session 2:
In-depth analysis of systems and practices such as Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) schemes, management of hazardous household waste, circular management of waste streams, and innovative separate collection applications. Case studies will be presented by the Municipalities of Athens and Vari–Voula–Vouliagmeni, as well as DIADYMA S.A.

✅ Session 3:
Presentation of innovative applications by CERTH (Centre for Research and Technology Hellas) and the Athena Research Center, along with an overview of available funding instruments (Green Fund, Interreg).

👟 Study Visit:
Following the conference sessions, participants will visit DIADYMA’s facilities (Grevena KEOD & TMDA) for an on-site, hands-on experience.

The event focuses on Innovative Waste Collection Systems and constitutes a valuable opportunity for knowledge dissemination, peer learning, and exchange of good practices.
